Meeting your baby for the first time is magical! and with the right information, preparation and support, the birth of your baby can become an exciting adventure.
How can My Doula help?
Before your baby is born, I can help you plan for your birth - deciding where to have your birth, techniques for coping with pain, positioning during labour, etc.
As well as practical support, your MyDoula is also a source of emotional support and a sounding board for you to use as often as you need to either by email, telephone or in person.
How can My Doula help during the birth?
As a Doula, I'm comfortable to take whatever role suits you. Some mothers want very hands on support – eg relaxation and visualization techniques, reminders and encouragement about your positioning and breathing.
Sometimes mothers prefer their Doula to be more in the background, just making sure she is comfortable and providing opportunities for their partners to have a break. I'm here to help you and your partner make the birth of your baby a positive and memorable experience.
I will support your decisions and do everything I can to make sure your wishes are heard and respected, working alongside your midwife.
I also have foundation training in breastfeeding support
RESEARCH has shown that having a doula present at a birth: • Decreases the chance of caesarean section by 50% • Decreases the need for pain medication • Helps fathers participate with confidence • Increases success in breast-feeding
